All Good Things

This is my last day this week at the hated second job, and I only have to work 3 days next week!! I'm going home in 24 hours and will be home for 4 whole days! I bought 3 new shirts at Ross last night that are very me and wonderful. I get to go see Rango tonight. And a certain someone and I are finally talking again. Good day with good days ahead = Happy Kimber!!

Sometimes I Pretend I'm a Poet

This is a poem composed of texts I've received and strung-together phrases I found on a magnet board in the bookstore once. I took pictures of the phrases so that I'd have them to write this poem someday! So if it sounds like some of these lines were written by someone on drugs, now you know they were just random magnet words put together by bored BYU students, and now they are something beautiful :)

And Kiss You
Ask me what beauty is,
And sing, play or shine, for she did whisper.
Frantically recall if the mist is dirt,
With ancient candy painting red.
He and she share a twirl,
They worship a little more each moment.
He liked her gorgeous chant,
And she was an ant for the battle.
I love you for exactly who you are.

Decisions

I was reading through my past posts last night and realized that my blog is a lot less cool than it used to be. I've decided to go back to posting about beautiful things I'm discovering/thinking about. I want to write more poetry and put it up. I feel the distinct lack of deep thinking in my life and that needs to change.

Other decisions:

Yoplait yogurt is one of my favorite things to have for breakfast. They're so cute and so yummy!!

I like my nerdy friends :)

I'm going to learn to play at least 5 new songs on the guitar this summer. Perhaps even write some more of my own.

I could use a little more love in my life. We could all use a little more love.

Another rainy day in Provo :)

Young and Fabulous

My 19th birthday was a smashing success, and a huge(!) thank you to all the family and friends who made it amazing!! My cousin Meg made me a delicious breakfast of waffles with coconut milk ice cream and cheesy farm-fresh eggs...yummmm!! I came home and went back to bed for a few hours (recovering from dancing the night away) then got to chat with my parents and did a little spring cleaning. My awesome roommates and a few close friends/cousins/brother went to Cafe Paesan, a new place in town that's kind of the Italian version of Cafe Rio. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! It was the perfect choice for me since it was Italian, cheap, and a little different. It was so fun to bring together all my different friends over incredible food. Then James, my cousin Ginny, my aunt and I watched Tangled at my place. I hadn't seen it yet (a terrible sin, I know) and my mom sent it to me for my birthday so that was way awesome! I totally loved it!!! The music was great and the characters were so fun. All around a perfect birthday :)

I started my new calling teaching the Temple Prep class at church yesterday, which was terrifying and exciting at the same time. For my first time, it went exceptionally well. I had a very relaxed afternoon, which was lovely. After ward prayer I got an awesome hand/head/back massage from my friend Danny while we watched Princess Bride, an all-time favorite of mine.

Feelin' young and fabulous :)

Reflections on my 18th Year

Today is my last day of being 18!! Like I said in my last post, I've never really felt 18, so it's kind of weird to think that I'm turning 19, but I'm really looking forward to the coming year! So here are some highlights from the year I was 18:

1) Prom with Matt :) He asked me to be his date on my 18th birthday by writing on all the mirrors of the school dance room "Prom?" and "I love you" and other cute things :) it was the best birthday present ever!

2) Graduation! I finally got done with high school and was on to bigger and better things, aka BYU!! Here's one of my favorite senior pictures.

3) Halloween in August party with all my best friends since we wouldn't be together for actual Halloween in October.

That's all I really have pictures of haha. But being 18 was pretty freaking awesome! I was single the whole time I was 18, which is pretty weird to think about, but I somehow survived it. Maybe there's summer love in store for me this year ;) I moved out, did a whole year of college, got my first job, bought my own bike....it's definitely been a year of accomplishment.

Today was a super amazing day: I looked really pretty, my amazing boss Curtis baked me the most amazing cake I've ever seen! If he puts a picture of it on his baking blog, I'll be sure to put it up here too, but man it was gorgeous. It was round and pink, made of strawberry cake with real strawberry chunks in it, covered with this frosting that tasted like creamy strawberry ice cream--talk about heavenly. And the whole thing was topped with cut strawberries fanned out all over the top. It made me feel so celebrated and like a princess :) The kids at my second job up in records made me a really nice card and decorated my cubical! And my best friend Meg came down to have lunch with me. So the work day was awesome. Then my sister came down to Provo unexpectedly so that was a nice surprise to see her for a bit, then I had a date! I went salsa dancing with my friend Angel, who is the hottest Mexican you've ever seen!! And he's an incredible dancer. Having just gotten out of the shower to wash all the dance sweat away, I am sleepy but very contented. It has been the best Friday ever, and tomorrow promises to be an amazing 19th birthday!! :D

Blah Wednesday....

Today is kind of blah....so I thought I'd spice it up by blogging.

10 random things I'm thinking about today: 1) I'm having a terrible hair day and I didn't want to wear my glasses, but I had to cuz I was having trouble with my contacts this morning and I was already running late. 2) The weather is frustrating because it's yucky without the excuse of raining, so there's nothing good at all about the yuck. 3) I'm done complaining. 4) I get to go home in 16 days!!! 5) I'm expecting a package tomorrow from my awesome mother that she sent me for my birthday :) 6) I'm thinking about buying myself a nice-ish camera for my birthday. 7) Our fridge is almost completely covered with wedding announcements. Wow. 8) I'm really enjoying figuring out new things to do with my short hair! 9) My blog is all beautified for summer :D 10) Only 3 days til my birthday!!!!

It's a John Mayer Kind of Rainy Day

I listened to my John Mayer playlist on my way to work today (last day of walking!! I'm going to get my bike permit from the police today!). I love his music because the lyrics are so emotional and poetic, and I could listen to a gentle guitar all day. He says everything I feel about loneliness and love.....perfect walking in the morning rain music.

My ward sang Happy Birthday to me last night at ward prayer, which made it finally seem like my birthday is actually coming! It's this Saturday and I think it's going to be a blast! It's still kind of surreal that I've already been through a year of school, and I have kind of felt about 20 years old anyway, so it's weird that I'm only turning 19. I guess I'll eventually catch up with myself haha.

Wishing everyone a happy Monday :)

I'm a Real Person!

"I'm a real person now!" I said to my brother as we were driving home from Walmart after purchasing my very own new bicycle!! He had just observed that I'm living on my own, working 2 jobs, paying all my own bills (including rent), and generally living the life! It all makes me feel grown up and independent :) It's really quite wonderful! I felt so good having the means to buy my own bike and a lock to keep it safe. I'm very excited to sleep in a little more in the mornings since I don't have to walk to work anymore.

I worked 4 hours today at the Tailgate party before the BYU vs. Seattle baseball game and got a wee bit of a tan, which was lovely. All in all, a very productive day :)

Last Night's Adventure

Last night I got to go Salsa dancing with my good friend Paul. We competed in the Foreign Language Competition my sophomore year and won State, which was pretty awesome :) We went to Salsa Chocolate (pronounced with a Spanish accent) which is one of my favorite places to go dancing; it's a good price with a vibratory atmosphere, and most of the guys aren't creepers--key word being most. I have had a couple of interesting encounters, but all in all, a really fun Latin crowd. The only consistently awkward moments come when the short guys ask me to dance....poor suckers. I mean, I give them props for being brave enough to ask me to dance even though I'm a good foot taller than them, but the whole me-being-the-taller-one thing makes the guys'-eye-level thing more than a little awkward. hahahaha oh the joys of being tall among small Latinos.

The really great thing about having gone there so much is that I'm now developing a friend base that I see there pretty consistently. I was laughing to myself as guy after guy came up to hug me and kiss my cheeks then take me out for a dance as Paul stood there pleasantly perplexed. We had come together with the understanding that I was going to dance with other people, but I hadn't realized until then just how many people I knew! Thankfully Paul is not the jealous or easily offended type so he did fine asking other girls to dance or just watching and learning. I think we both had an awesome time.
